Marriage License Instructions
We make it easy for you to obtain your Hawaii wedding license. We have created a step by step process covering all the details you need to know to obtain your Hawaii wedding license. The State of Hawaii requires that you get the wedding license yourself. However, if you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help you.
Step By Step Guide
01
First Step
Go to the following website to fill out the Marriage License Application. Please note that your online application will be available for the issuance of a marriage or civil union license by an agent in the State of Hawaii up to one year from the application date. After a year, your application will be removed from the system. There will be no refunds for unused applications.

02
Second Step
Set an appointment with a Hawaii State Marriage License Agent in person before the ceremony. We suggest calling or emailing to make this appointment 30-60 days before your ceremony to get your preferred date and time. When emailing, make sure you give them your Locator ID from your Marriage License Application and your availability to make it easy on them to get you booked! This is a very short meeting prior to the marriage ceremony where the couple will review the application, show ID, and sign the worksheet in the presence of the state agent. The agents are usually available for appointments Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, you may request a Saturday/Sunday appointment (holidays excluded). There is a list of agents on the website, but here’s a list as well.

In 5-7 days a temporary digital/printable license will be available and the permanent hard copy license will be mailed to your address in 3-4weeks.
